The Brazilian Special Coffees Association (BSCA) expressed regret over the fact that the new executive order signed by United States President Donald Trump on Friday, the 14th, does not contain the complete exclusion of the 50% tariffs imposed on Brazilian coffees, particularly specialty coffees. The new directive from the White House removes the reciprocal 10% tax on the import of Brazilian coffees but maintains the additional 40%, which have been in effect since August of this year. "Such a situation, of maintaining a high tariff position imposed on Brazil, amplifies trade distortions and tends to intensify, in the short term, the drop in exports of specialty coffees to the United States," the association states.
