Turkey has begun the harvest of its first fresh figs in the Aydin region, with Buharkent being the primary source of production. The Sarilop fig variety, known for its quality, is being harvested 15 days earlier than other figs. Due to travel restrictions, the fresh figs are currently being sold domestically, but there is anticipation for the reopening of export gates. The region is famous for its fig production, with over 7 million fig trees and contributing 61% to Turkey's total fig production. Fig farming in Buharkent has become a significant part of the local economy, with expectations for a good harvest this year. The district is known for producing around 25,000 tons of fresh figs annually, generating approximately 100 million to the economy.
