The European Union (EU) has registered Bursa black figs as a geographical indication, marking it as the 26th such product from Turkey. Produced in Bursa, the figs are renowned for their quality, long shelf life, and high yield. The registration, initiated by the Bursa Region Village Development and Other Agricultural Purposes Cooperative Union, is expected to boost the product's brand value and the income of producers and exporters. The figs are grown by over 10,000 producers across 30,000 decares and are exported to several countries. The EU registration will prevent other countries from using the name 'Bursa black' for their figs, enhancing the product's competitive power in the market.
