Fourteen branch organizations are attacking tax changes in the draft budget for 2026, which they believe threaten the food industry.

After the Ministry of Finance announced the draft budget for 2026 without conducting preliminary discussions with the business on the proposed tax changes burdening companies with additional financial burdens, representatives of 14 industry organizations in the food sector, which are members of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, opposed the request for corrections in the Tax and Social Insurance Procedural Code (TSIPC). In a letter sent to the relevant parliamentary committees, the Council of Ministers, and the ministries of finance and agriculture, the business insisted on the cancellation of corrections in the TSIPC related to the transportation of goods with high fiscal risk.
