Si Maini, chairman of the Cambodian Pepper and Spice Federation, reported that Cambodia's annual pepper production, which typically ranges between 17,000 and 20,000 tons over 6,000 hectares, has decreased by about 50% this year due to the El Nino phenomenon. The current price of Cambodian pepper is between 25,000 and 27,000 riels per kilogram. In 2023, Cambodia exported 6,152 tons of pepper to countries including China, Vietnam, Germany, and the United States. The country's pepper gardens span 17 provinces with a total area of 7,060 hectares.
