From January 1 to August 2021, Cambodia experienced a significant increase in cashew exports, with a total of 876,531 tons, which is approximately 350% more than the previous year. The main destinations for these exports included China, Thailand, Japan, India, Korea, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, Bangladesh, and Laos. This surge is attributed to the high demand for cashews, leading to a price increase to 4,000 riel/kg (around 1 USD/kg) this year, up from 3,500 riel/kg in the previous year. Cambodia has dedicated over 500,000 hectares of land to cashew cultivation across ten provinces, with Kampong Thom province being the leading region in cashew cultivation.
