Cambodia is set to start exporting fresh longan to China in October or November 2022, despite difficulties in sourcing due to poor output. The country aims to export about 10,000 tons, with longan growers urged to register for export and ensure compliance with Chinese quality assurance standards. The province of Pailin, the largest longan-growing area in Cambodia, is encouraging farmers to connect with Chinese buyers. Meanwhile, Cambodia's rice exports have increased by 10% in the first nine months of 2022, reaching 449,325 tons worth $287 million, with China and the EU being the main markets. However, Vietnamese agricultural products may face strong competition from similar products of Cambodia and Thailand in the Chinese market.
