REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) is currently accelerating major efforts in the rehabilitation of irrigation networks as the main foundation for strengthening national rice production. This strategic move has proven effective in significantly boosting the performance of the agricultural sector. As a result, rice production throughout 2025 is projected to reach 34.79 million tons, with government rice reserves expected to touch a safe figure of 3.3 million tons by early 2026. Kementan places the strengthening of water infrastructure as part of a comprehensive vision to ensure the sustainability of production while also improving the welfare of farmers.
