While consolidating the Chinese market, Cambodia is actively exploring other export channels. Data from 2024 shows that the total export value of bananas was 138 million U.S. dollars, with 5% of the exports going to markets such as Japan, Vietnam, and South Korea, among which the Japanese market contributed 5.91 million U.S. dollars in export value, accounting for 4.28%. In 2025, the export volume to the Japanese market is expected to increase by 22%, and to South Korea by 35%. Kompong Thom province has become the core support for breaking into the high-end market. Heng Meng Hong, the person in charge of the "World Three Stars" plantation in the province, revealed that the Cavendish bananas they grow are "sweet and rich in fragrance," have passed the Japan JAS certification, and supply 150 tons of premium fruit to Tokyo and Osaka every month at a price of 680 U.S. dollars per ton.
