In 2023, Cambodia's fresh longan exports to China surged to 17,000 tons, marking a 454% increase from the previous year, with minor exports to Thailand. The Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture noted that the Pailin longan planting area spans over 13,608 hectares, primarily in Battambang, Pailin, and Banteay Meanchey Provinces. Of this, 8,000 hectares are fruit-bearing, yielding an average of 15-20 tons per hectare annually. The national planting scale is projected to expand to 18,000 hectares, with an anticipated annual output of 131,000 tons.
