Campeche is performing well in agribusiness due to its fertile lands and tropical climate, despite a 27.3% drop in international sales of manufacturing companies from 2020 to 2021. This decline was compensated by an increase in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in agroindustrial, fishing, aquaculture, and tourism sectors. The state has a diverse labor force of 426 thousand, with a focus on corn and bean cultivation. It is known for its production of quality habanero peppers, soybeans, honey, rice, corn, sorghum, and watermelon, and is a leading place for fishing, especially for shrimp, octopus, and other scaled species, which contributes 26.6% to the state's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
