Canada harvests record wheat and canola crops

Canada’s gross wheat harvest this year reached a record 40.0 million tonnes, up 11% from last year. Rapeseed production also set a record at 21.8 million tonnes, exceeding last year’s level by 13%. This was reported by Zerno On-Line, citing Statistics Canada. These record figures were achieved thanks to good yields in the Canadian Prairies. Statistics Canada estimates spring soft wheat production at 29.3 million tonnes (up 10% from 2024), and durum wheat at 7.1 million tonnes (up 12% from 2024). Weather conditions in the Canadian Prairies were somewhat variable during the 2025 growing season. Drought was observed in early summer, but timely rainfall at the end of the growing season significantly improved the situation.
