From January to August of this year, Peru saw a significant increase in Castile bean exports, with a total value of almost US $ 20.26 million, a 117% increase compared to the same period in 2020. The US, South Korea, the UK, Greece, Portugal, Spain, and Colombia were the main markets for these beans. Piura and Lambayeque regions were the main exporting areas. In 2020, the average FOB price of Peruvian Castilla beans increased by 10.1%. This surge in bean consumption is attributed to the pandemic, as people are consuming more fresh food and fewer processed items.
