In 2020, despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, the export and marketing of Sonoran cattle have seen an increase compared to the previous year, with 288 thousand heads exported so far, up from 280 thousand in the same period in 2019. This trend is particularly noticeable in the Municipality of Navojoa. Ricardo Flores Argüelles, president of the Local Livestock Association, emphasizes that ranching, considered essential, has been able to continue relatively normally during the health crisis. Recent months have been productive for the sector, with improved numbers as the pandemic progresses.
