Despite the anticipation of the Eid-ul-Azha festival, cattle markets in the capital city have not yet seen a surge in the sale of sacrificial animals, with only four days remaining. This is attributed to the higher prices of cattle feed and rearing costs, which have increased the cost of animals this year. However, farmers express concerns over potential losses due to cows from other countries entering the market, leading to lower prices. Meanwhile, the online sale of cattle has seen an increase, with over 51,000 animal pictures published and more than 9,000 animals sold online as of mid-June. The Department of Livestock reports a total of 1,25,36,333 cattle ready for sale this year, a decrease from last year's demand but with concerns about potential border crossings by cows.
