CDR votes amnesty for debts of cocoa producers from Bahia

The Regional Development Commission (CDR) has a meeting scheduled for Tuesday (2) with nine items on the agenda. The commission is expected to vote on the bill that grants amnesty for indebted cocoa producers. The report of the PL 479/2024, by Senator Chico Rodrigues (PSB-RR), is in favor of approval. The bill, by Senator Angelo Coronel (PSD-BA), establishes the Renova Cacau program, which grants total amnesty to the debts incurred by cocoa farmers in Bahia in a previous program to incentivize the sector. The program also aims to strengthen the technical bodies that support producers and the economic restructuring of the sector. The bill fully forgives the debts of rural credit operations from the previous program contracted with federal and state financial institutions to combat the witch's broom disease.
