Central government and Sancheong provide advance payment support to strawberry farmers affected by heavy rain.

The Central Agricultural Cooperative announced that it will provide 1 billion won in export promotion funds to help the strawberry farmers in the Sancheong region of Gyeongnam province recover quickly from the damage caused by the heavy rains in July. The Sancheong region in Gyeongnam province experienced extreme rainfall with an average of 632mm between July 16 and 20. This rainfall caused a total of 2,009 incidents worth 445.6 billion won, including 418 hectares of farmland and 208 hectares of horticultural facilities being submerged. In particular, many strawberry farms suffered damage to their greenhouses and had seedlings submerged, which is expected to disrupt strawberry production and shipment this winter.
