Challenges in wheat production in Brazil and Argentina: Cancellation of contracts and climate adversities

An atypical appreciation for this time of year, attributed to the crop failure in southern Brazil, especially in Rio Grande do Sul, where the harvest results in inferior quality grains, leading to the cancellation of contracts, as observed by Elcio Bento, analyst at CROP & Market. According to the National Supply Company (Conab), the wheat harvest reached 94.2% of the estimated area for the 2022/23 season in the main producing states in Brazil. In the previous week, the harvest was 87.1%, while in the same period of the previous year, it reached 72.7%. However, the state of Paraná stands out by reaching 100% of the cultivated area, projecting a production 10% higher than the previous season.
