(Changwon=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Sun-kyung = The Danggam Complex Cultural Space opened its doors on the 30th in Hwayang-ri, Dong-eup, Uichang-gu, Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province, at 661-3. The city renovated the old, city-owned building (ground floor) that had fallen into disuse after being selected in the 2022 Rural Complex Industry District Creation Competition into the Danggam Complex Cultural Space. The Danggam Complex Cultural Space was expanded to two floors. The first floor features an exhibition hall that introduces the history and stories of persimmons in everyday life. It also showcases processed persimmon products and promotional items produced in Changwon. The second floor is set up as a café space, allowing visitors to enjoy beverages and desserts made with persimmons. A total of 860 million won, including national, provincial, and city funds, was invested in creating the Danggam Complex Cultural Space. The city expects this space to contribute to spreading awareness of the value and culture of Changwon persimmons, which have the highest production volume in the country. Gang Jong-sun, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, "With the opening of the Danggam Complex Cultural Space, we will make further efforts to give Changwon persimmons cultural competitiveness" and "continue to promote Changwon persimmon processed products." ksk@yna.co.kr
