The fish farm in Itum-Kali, headed by Roman Chekhov, cultivates 12 species of sturgeon, including the rare golden sturgeon. Each sturgeon is microchipped and the first milking occurs when they reach puberty at seven years old. Currently, there are over 20,000 sturgeon in the pools, with 2,000 capable of commercial reproduction, and plans to expand to a full-cycle enterprise with an incubator for 300,000 fry by next spring. The fish farm has 46 pools, an oxygen station, a pre-spawn fish keeping department, a laboratory, and living quarters for employees.
