[Agricultural and Fisheries News=Reporter Park Nara] The Cheonan City Agricultural Technology Center (Director Choi Jong-yoon) has fully embarked on diversifying rice varieties in response to climate change and consumer trends. The city agricultural center held a taste evaluation meeting on the 18th to discover customized rice varieties, and comprehensively reviewed the suitability for local cultivation. In this evaluation meeting, the appearance and taste of Samgwang rice, the raw material for Heungtareong rice, and four varieties bred in Chungnam were comparatively evaluated. The development background of the varieties, cultivation characteristics, and yield were shared together, focusing on the preference of farmers and the possibility of field application. Based on the evaluation results, Cheonan City will expand trial cultivation, centering on varieties with high field demand.
