Chicken meat starts 2026 with normalized exports

The poultry sector begins 2026 in a solid position to consolidate another year of positive performance, following a 2025 marked by fluctuations, according to information from Itau BBA. The year started favorably, but gained complexity with the avian flu outbreak recorded in Rio Grande do Sul, which resulted in four months of export restrictions between May and August. The normalization, however, occurred gradually, since the episode was restricted to a single commercial farm. In recent months, China and the European Union, which still maintained limitations, removed the embargoes and paved the way for the full resumption of shipments. Cost conditions for 2026 remain, so far, balanced, especially with regard to feed. Nevertheless, the delay of rains in the Cerrado brought apprehension about the planting of the safrinha corn, with part of the areas outside the ideal window.
