Chicken price falls in Peru

The wholesale price of a kilo of chicken in Metropolitan Lima today ranges between S/7 and S/7.20, according to the Midagri Supply and Price System (SISAP), coinciding with Easter. Yesterday, prices ranged between S/7.50 and S/7.70. However, during the last week, according to information from sector bulletins, it is observed that the kilo of chicken marked S/7.80 and remained at that level during the first days of last week, which caused the sale per kilo at S/ 11 in retail markets. Let us remember that, during 2024, the price of chicken on average during January reached S/ 6.73, but in February it reached S/ 7.24, while so far this year it rose to S/ 7.82. The increase was caused by the increase in temperatures, which generated a decrease in the supply of chicken.
