Egypt achieved nearly 97% self-sufficiency in white poultry and is now accredited by the World Organization for Animal Health for avian influenza-free facilities. The government is also seeking to expand poultry export markets to support foreign currency reserves. Current local poultry prices range from 70 to 110 pounds per kilo, with the lowest prices seen in the public poultry exchange. The government is also implementing precautionary measures to prevent epidemic diseases in livestock and poultry. The 'Mohamed Adel' poultry exchange prices are slightly higher, with Sasso poultry at 77 pounds per kilo. Egypt's poultry exports are mainly to Arab countries, as well as some East Asian and African nations. The country produces about 4 million chickens per day and 13 billion eggs annually.
