The Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) of Biobío, led by Roberto Ferrada, is actively engaged in the annual clinical surveillance and sampling of approximately 26,000 livestock animals in the Andes mountain range. This initiative aims to ensure the animals, including cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, and horses, are free from exotic diseases as they move to summer grazing areas, known as veranadas. The SAG's comprehensive approach involves risk evaluation, health measure definition, and disease inspections and sampling for conditions such as Caprine Brucellosis, Bluetongue, and Foot and Mouth Disease. Additionally, the SAG supports ranchers with service points in locations like the commune of Antuco, streamlining procedures for animal unloading and other related activities.
