Chile is set to have a record cherry export season in 2024/25, with a projected record of 132 million boxes, or 657,900 tons, due to favorable agricultural and climatic conditions, marking a significant increase from the previous season. This growth is largely due to the expansion of cherry plantation areas in Chile. The country will continue to target China as its primary export market, alongside exploring opportunities in America and Korea. The Chilean Cherry Committee plans to invest over $9 million in direct marketing in the 2024/25 season, with a focus on these markets, aiming to boost consumer interest and sales. The cherry industry is a crucial part of Chile's agricultural export strategy, contributing 27% to the total fresh fruit exports over the past decade. The collaboration between growers and service agencies ensures product quality and adherence to safety standards, making cherries a staple and source of national pride for the country.
