The Chilean Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) has determined to restore the sanitary recognition of the vaccination-free foot-and-mouth disease-free zone of Argentina and lift the suspension measure on the imports of bovine and ovine goods coming from Patagonia. The measure is the result of the efforts made between SENASA and the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation, as well as the conclusions of the official report of the SAG, following the audit visit to the zoosanitary barrier of Patagonia. The planning of SENASA to develop the sanitary negotiations with Chile during this period of the year allowed minimizing any impact on bilateral trade. Due to the seasonality of sheep meat exports—which are concentrated in the first months—, commercial operations were not affected.
