In the 2025/26 season, the planting area of cherries in Chile is expected to reach 80,000 hectares, an increase of 4.6% from the 2024/25 season. Thanks to favorable export opportunities and strong market dynamics, the Chilean cherry industry has been continuously expanding over the past decade. The estimated harvest area for the new production season is expected to reach 74,000 hectares, indicating that the orchards planted in previous years are entering the mature production phase. Cherry trees typically take 4-5 years to bear fruit after planting, and the increase in harvest area aligns with the trend of earlier expansion in planting areas. Assuming normal climatic conditions and an increase in planting area, the production of cherries in Chile is expected to reach 730,000 tons in the 2025/26 season, an increase of 6.7% from the 684,000 tons in the 2024/25 season.
