Chilean dried plums reach peak in China

It is not only the Chilean cherry that is conquering the Asian giant's market. In the first half of 2024, between January and June, more than 10 thousand metric tons (MT) of dried plums reached that market. In detail, and as reported by Chile Prunes, the Chilean fruit was exported to 70 countries with 34,026 MT, equivalent to 104 million dollars, an amount identical to that registered in the first half of 2023. China became by far the main destination of the product, both in volume and returns: 10,463 MT, equivalent to 23 million dollars. The amount marks a peak compared to last year, when shipments of dried plums totaled 5,816 MT, equivalent to 19 million dollars. In second place was Poland and a little further behind Mexico, with 3,200 and 2,240 MT, respectively. Rounding out the top five are the United States and Germany. With a little more than 1,000 MT, they complete the list of the top 10 destinations for Chilean dried plums: the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Turkey ...
