UNESCO has recognized the Peruvian origin of pisco, leading to concerns in Chile about the potential impact on its pisco industry. In response, Chile's Minister of Agriculture, Esteban Valenzuela, has called a meeting of the Chilean Pisco Advisory Council to address the issue. The council will include representatives from various agricultural organizations and ministries. Valenzuela has expressed Chile's support for its pisco industry and its legal defense against any monopolization of the designation of origin of Chilean pisco.
