Brazil has received approval from China to export pecans, following five years of negotiations between the countries. The agreement was signed during a mission led by Brazilian vice president, Geraldo Alckmin, and minister of agriculture and livestock, Carlos Fávaro. This deal is anticipated to expand commercial relations between Brazil and China, as China is the largest buyer of Brazilian agricultural products. Brazil, currently the fourth-largest producer of pecans, could generate business exceeding US$1m from the Chinese market.
