In 2023, Australia and the United States saw an increase in their beef market share in China, maintaining their positions as the third and fourth largest suppliers respectively. Together with Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, New Zealand, and the United States, these countries accounted for 94% of China's total beef imports, a figure similar to the previous year. China has also diversified its supplier portfolio, with Bolivia's share increasing to 4% of the total value of Chinese beef imports. Other significant sources of beef for China were Belarus, Russia, and Chile.
