China is providing a lucrative market for Kazakhstan's oil and fat industry, with an annual import of over 18 million tons of vegetable oils and meal/cake. Chinese markets offer prices $20-30 per ton higher than Central Asian countries, enabling Kazakhstani producers to increase raw material purchase prices from local agricultural producers and boost foreign exchange earnings. A recent agreement with China has also allowed 24 oil mills in Kazakhstan to export meal/cake, with the first shipment totaling 46 thousand tons in the 2023/24 season. The National Association of Oilseed Processors anticipates that Kazakhstan's fat and oil product exports to China will reach $300 million by 2026.
