China has approved the import of live snow crabs from Norway

In November, Norwegian Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Marianne Sivertsen Næss met with Yu Jianhua, Director General of the General Administration of Customs of China, in Beijing. Marianne Sivertsen Næss said that after the talks with the Chinese side, China quickly opened up to import live snow crab from Norway, which shows the importance of the visit in promoting Norwegian interests. He pointed out that the Asian market is increasingly interested in live snow crab, and entering the Chinese market means great potential for Norwegian exporters. The Norwegian Food Safety Authority received 5 million Norwegian kroner in the national budget for 2024 to expand market access for seafood, and an additional 3 million Norwegian kroner was funded to strengthen this work, totaling 8 million Norwegian kroner. 10% of the total Norwegian snow crab quota has been reserved for live crab deliveries.
