China has become a key buyer of Russian linseed oil

As one of the world's largest producers of oilseed flax (according to the FAO, Russia accounted for more than 20% of the world production of curled flax in 2020), Russia practically did not export flaxseed oil, but already in 2018 a growing trend was outlined. At the end of 2021, Russia supplied abroad 28.5 thousand tons of linseed oil worth $41.5 million and entered the top 3 world exporters. The volume of deliveries compared to 2018 increased by almost 4 times in physical terms and more than 6 times in value terms. In the long term, Russian exports of linseed oil may exceed 50,000 tons ($80 million). As stated in the review of the federal center "Agroexport", the key buyers of linseed oil from Russia in 2021 were China, which purchased products for 21.0 million US dollars or 14.9 thousand tons, Norway (11.7 million US dollars or 9.2 thousand tons), as well as Belgium (4.6 million US dollars or 2.7 thousand tons).
