China's Ministry of Commerce has announced an anti-subsidy investigation into various EU dairy products, following a complaint by the China Dairy Association. The probe will examine 20 subsidy schemes from EU countries like Austria, Belgium, and Ireland. The European Commission and the European Dairy Federation maintain that their subsidies comply with WTO rules and will defend the EU dairy sector. This investigation is part of a series of recent Chinese probes into EU imports, including pork and brandy. The EU's dairy exports to China were valued at €1.7 billion in 2023, down from €2 billion in 2022.
