China has announced its intention to initiate an anti-dumping investigation into canola imports from Canada in response to tariffs imposed by Ottawa on Chinese electric vehicles, steel, and aluminium. This action follows a similar response from the US and EU. Canada is a major supplier of canola to China, which is the world's largest oilseed importer. The move has led to a surge in domestic rapeseed oil futures prices in China. Additionally, China is also looking into anti-dumping claims against certain Canadian chemical products. This situation is part of a broader trade dispute that has seen China targeting imports from both the EU and Australia in retaliation for restrictions on its electric vehicle exports.
