In 2022, China imported 1.94 million tons of dried green fodder, primarily dried alfalfa, valued at 991 million dollars. The United States was the largest exporter, contributing 78.2% of the total alfalfa import. The price per ton of US alfalfa increased by 33.8% to $541. Spain was the second largest exporter with a 13% share, followed by South Africa with a 4.9% share. The price of alfalfa from South Africa also increased by 18%. China also imported dried oats from the United States.
