In December 2023, China saw a surge in imports of rapeseed and sunflower meal, with supplies reaching 272 thousand tons and 353 thousand tons respectively. The primary suppliers were Ukraine and Bulgaria for sunflower meal, and Canada, the UAE, and Ukraine for rapeseed meal. Despite the increase in imports, China's domestic market is experiencing an oversupply of oilseed meal, resulting in significant price pressure. In 2023, China's imports of seven major categories of oilseed meal rose by 12%, hitting a record high of 8.7 million tons.
