China has imposed an indefinite ban on Thai agricultural labels due to the detection of mealybugs, effective from August 13. This decision highlights China's increasing focus on food safety and quality control of agricultural imports. The ban could significantly impact Thai longan exports, which make up 70-80% of the total, as well as other countries like Vietnam that struggle to meet China's standards. Meanwhile, Vietnam is working to negotiate market access for its priority fruit products and is requesting official export licenses for various seafood and fish products. Despite facing challenges in customs clearance due to Covid-19 prevention measures, Vietnam's agricultural exports to China have seen a 35.8% increase in the first seven months of the year.
