A Rabobank report highlights the rapid growth of the avocado market in Asia, with China becoming the largest importer in the region in 2023, primarily supplied by Peru, Chile, and Kenya. Despite low per-capita consumption, Asia's market potential is substantial. The OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook predicts continued global growth in avocado production, led by Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and the Dominican Republic. By 2033, avocados are expected to surpass pineapples and mangos in trade value, with Mexico remaining the top exporter. The United States and the European Union will continue to be the largest import markets, while significant growth is also expected in the UK, Canada, China, and the Middle East due to rising incomes and changing consumer preferences. Per-capita consumption is also set to rise in producing countries like Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and Indonesia.
