China is promoting the development of high-yielding crop varieties through biotechnology and mechanization to boost production, as outlined in its annual rural policy draft, Document No. 1. The plan includes stabilizing grain sowing areas, improving yields with new seeds and machinery, and expanding oil crop cultivation. The state has also approved the production and sale of genetically modified soybean and corn seeds, and plans to increase soybean cultivation performance. Other measures include raising the minimum purchase price of wheat, expanding insurance and cultivation subsidies, and deepening agricultural cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
