China imported nearly 1,359,000 tons of durian from Vietnam and Thailand in the first 10 months of 2023, totaling 6.373 billion USD, marking an 88.3% increase in volume and 81% increase in value over 2022. Vietnam is second to Thailand in durian supply to China, with growth in both volume and value, but there is potential for further growth if licensed to export frozen and processed durian. Vietnamese businesses need to pay attention to quality control and measures to sustainably develop the durian industry for long-term success in the Chinese market.
