In April 2023, Vietnam experienced a decline in its cassava and cassava product exports, with a decrease of 19.5% in volume and 27.4% in value compared to April 2022. Despite this, the average export price increased by 4.6% compared to March 2023. From January to April 2023, there was a total export of 1.16 million tons, earning US$445.81 million, marking a decrease in volume but an increase in value compared to the same period in the previous year. China remains a significant market, but other markets have shown strong growth. The demand for cassava is expected to rise due to its use in ethanol production, as developed countries shift towards clean energy. The Vietnam Cassava Association reports fluctuating local cassava prices and an increase in cassava starch export prices.
