China has decided to lift its ban on the importation of citrus fruit and two types of fish from Taiwan, according to China's General Administration of Customs vice minister, Zhao Zenglian. The ban, imposed in 2022 in response to concerns about mealybugs, excessive pesticide residues, and COVID-19 virus contamination, will be lifted based on scientific assessments. The decision was announced during a visit by a delegation of Kuomintang lawmakers to China, with further communication expected between China and the KMT and relevant Taiwan authorities. Taiwan's Acting Agriculture Minister has not yet received official notice of the decision and has suggested that future communication should be made via the cross-strait quarantine platform.
