The Ministry of Commerce of China announced that following the investigation into unfair competition that began in 2024, it will apply tariffs of up to 19.8% on pork originating from the European Union (EU). However, these duties, which will be applied over a period of five years starting tomorrow, are significantly lower than the tariffs of up to 62.4% that were temporarily announced against European pork last September. According to the announcement made today by Commerce on its website, the tariffs will range from 4.9% applied solely to the Spanish company Litera Meat, one of the firms sampled in the investigation, to the aforementioned 19.8%, which will be imposed on companies that did not cooperate and also on the Dutch company Vion.
