China’s 2023 fruit import and export statistics released

According to a report recently published by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-Products, China’s fruit imports maintained their ascending trajectory throughout 2023. Over the course of the year, China imported 7.52 million metric tons or $16.85 billion worth of fruit, representing year-on-year increases of 3% and 15%, respectively, compared with 2022. Meanwhile, fruit exports from China in 2023 totaled 3.87 million metric tons and $4.98 billion, corresponding to year-on-year increases of 19% and 8%, respectively. Notably, 2023 marked the first year since 2020 in which China’s fruit imports and exports both experienced growth.
