The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service report forecasts a growth in China’s apple and pear production and exports for the 2024/25 season. Apple production is expected to increase by 3% to 48 million metric tons, despite a decline in planted area, due to favorable weather and advancements in cultivation. Pear production is also projected to grow by 2% to 20.2 million metric tons. However, pear prices have seen a downward trend due to increased production and the recovery of the supply from Chile. China's apple and pear imports are expected to rebound, and apple exports are anticipated to grow due to competitive pricing and free trade agreements with Southeast Asian countries.
