China has significantly increased its grain storage capacity to over 700 million metric tons by 2023, a 36 percent increase from 2014, according to the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration. This expansion, which includes the construction and upgrading of grain storage facilities totaling over 65 million tons since 2021, has led to the elimination of outdated storage methods and the adoption of modern technologies like 'four-in-one' grain storage and green grain storage technologies. These advancements have improved the quality and freshness of the stored grain, ensuring that China's grain purchase and storage needs are met. Additionally, the country has shifted towards more advanced and environmentally friendly storage methods, including low-temperature and near-low-temperature warehouses, with a comprehensive loss rate of state-owned grain warehouses remaining low at 1 percent by the end of 2023.
