Huohulu persimmons from northern China are experiencing high demand in the Vietnamese market, with prices doubling upon entry into Vietnam. Initially priced at 10-15 Chinese yuan per kilogram in China, these persimmons are sold at 80,000-100,000 Vietnamese dong per kilogram in Vietnam, making them expensive compared to local Vietnamese persimmons. Recent advances in preservation and packaging have allowed for successful exportation of these persimmons, which have a jelly-like texture and sweet taste when ripe. Vietnam imported 5 metric tons of these persimmons on a trial basis and has since started importing in bulk. The first nine months of this year saw Vietnam import $700 million worth of fruits and vegetables from China, marking a 39% increase from the previous year.
